Re-Connecting With Friends And Relations
Numbers were slightly down at the Beaudesert Reunion this year, partly due to the effects of the Coronavirus, with 84 visitors passing through the door at St Thomas’ Church Hall from 9.30 am for our 68th Reunion of Saturday 14th March.
However, this didn’t stop everyone from enjoying themselves, meeting and catching up with relatives and friends, and it was great to see some new faces this year.
The Wonglepong CWA ladies, and gentleman, are always a great help on the day, making sure that our guests have had enough to eat for morning tea, and serving tea and coffee.
There were some fortunate people winning the five lucky door prizes and 23 raffle prizes, most of which were donated. Profit gained from the day will be donated to the QCWA Public Rural Crisis Fund.
The oldest person in attendance was 102 year old Josie Arthy, who has been coming to our Reunions every year. Other guests travelled from as far away as Sydney North Shore, Mt. Morgan, Stanthorpe and Pottsville, and from the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Ipswich, and places in between.
It was lovely to see Rev. John Mavor attend this year. Rev John was a past Moderator of the Twelfth Queensland Uniting Church Synod in 1988/89. Our little town of Beaudesert, over the years, has produced many sons and daughters who have gone on to serve in some very prominent positions and careers, of whom we are very proud.
We hope that past (and present) Beaudesertites will continue to come to our Beaudesert Reunions for many more years to come.
