New Play Equipment To Delight Children …
A spider web, jungle gym and swings are just a few of the new big-ticket items which have been unveiled by Council at the newly upgraded Tamborine Memorial Hall Playground.
Scenic Rim Regional Council Division 2 Councillor Jeff McConnell said the upgrades were sure to be a hit with residents both young and old.“This will be a great asset for the local community because it’s a brand-new playground for young and old to enjoy,” he said, “There’s lots of things for kids to climb, and an all-abilities birds nest swing which allows for easy transfer from a wheelchair or walker.”
“In addition to the new equipment, there is also a new sandstone block seating area and soft padding under the equipment.” Cr Jeff McConnell said, “This new play equipment will make Tamborine Memorial Hall Playground more inviting for locals and visitors, and with the recent refurbishment of the tennis courts, the toilets and the hall, this will greatly improve the social infrastructure of the Tamborine area.”
Scenic Rim Mayor Greg Christensen said he was pleased Council could deliver more amenities for all residents.
“I echo Councillor McConnell’s comments, and am pleased that this upgrade, like each of those we have done recently, extends the all-abilities functionality of our play spaces,” he said. “It is a joy to see whole families able to enjoy together.”
Council collaborated with the Tamborine District Citizens Association and organised with the Tamborine Memorial Hall Management Committee to bring together ideas for the design of the new playground to better suit the needs of local families. The upgrades were completed with funding from the Queensland Government’s COVID Works for Queensland program. “Thank you everyone for our new playground!”
