Scenic Rim Holds Large Citizenship Ceremony
Another 37 Scenic Rim residents, (approximately 18 from the Tamborine area), are now officially Australian citizens following a citizenship ceremony in Beaudesert on Citizenship Day in September.
Scenic Rim Mayor Greg Christensen said it was wonderful to see so many people choose to call this beautiful region home.
“Today is a very historic day in all your lives, and I would like to congratulate you as you embark on the next journey of your life as citizens of this great country,” Mayor Christensen said.
“You have chosen a beautiful part of Australia to call home, and we thrilled to officially welcome you here today.
“Our people are what make our communities so rich and authentic, and bringing more diversity into the fabric of our communities will make the Scenic Rim a much more inclusive place to live.”
Having come from Asia, Europe, the United Kingdom, Africa and New Zealand, Australia’s newest citizens have made their homes at various townships across the region including Beaudesert, Boonah, Kooralbyn, Tamborine Mountain, Tamborine, Boyland, Gleneagle, Eagle Heights,
Harrisville and Maroon.
The ceremony was held at The Centre in Beaudesert to coincide with Citizenship Day. Citizenship Day is celebrated on 17 September each year and provides an opportunity for everyone to take pride in Australia’s
democratic values and celebrates the role our citizens play in shaping the nation.
