Scenic Rim Libraries’ Click and Collect Outreach Service on the Road

Scenic Rim’s Libraries’ Click and Collect Outreach Service has hit the road to deliver pre-ordered books and resources to community members in outlying areas.

Council’s Library Assistant – Outreach Services Jan Harradine delivering books to Adrian Sandell from Kooralbyn Men’s Shed.

With the re-introduction of Council’s Mobile Library Service delayed by the impacts of COVID-19, the Click and Collect Outreach Service will be visiting 18 outreach locations on a fortnightly basis to the townships of Harrisville, Kooralbyn, Kalbar, Rosevale, Beechmont, Rathdowney, Mount Alford, Peak Crossing, Aratula, Hillview, Roadvale and Tamborine Village.

Scenic Rim Mayor Greg Christensen said the Click and Collect Outreach Service would be welcomed by those who are unable to visit Council’s branch libraries at Boonah, Beaudesert, Canungra and Tamborine Mountain.

“Requesting a book or library resource is as easy as visiting Council’s website or phoning one of our branch libraries to pre-order for delivery to one of our 18 outreach locations,” he said.

“Our librarians will source the book or resource for you and have it delivered to an outreach location near you so you can collect it from the library vehicle on the scheduled visiting day each fortnight.

“This new timetable includes those who have previously enjoyed an outreach service and establishes connections with community members in new locations, which will be supported by the Mobile Library Service when it resumes next year,” Cr Christensen said.

“While space limitations means we can only offer pre-ordered books and resources, the Click and Collect Outreach Service will carry some Surface Pro 2 tablets, so that our friendly staff can assist community members with technology at the outreach locations.”
