Free entry at pools during NAIDOC celebration

The City of Logan will host its first Logan NAIDOC at the Pools celebration next week.
Free entry will be available to the indoor heated pools at Beenleigh and Logan North Aquatic Centres between noon and 1pm next Wednesday (July 6).
The event is supported by a grant from the Australian Government’s Driving Social Inclusion through Sport and Physical Activity initiative.
The day will tie in with NAIDOC Week celebrations from this Sunday (July 3) until Sunday, July 10.
City Lifestyle Chair, Councillor Laurie Koranski said the event coincides with the second week of school holidays.
“We welcome the community to our pools to learn more about our free Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander swimming program – Nyerroolahle Logan,” Cr Koranski said.
“Nyerroolahle is the Yugambeh word for swim and this program is designed to boost the health and well-being of participants.
“We want people to have fun in the water and enjoy time together while being healthy and active.”
Everyone is welcome to attend the Logan NAIDOC at the Pools event.
Attendees are invited bring lunch to enjoy together after their free hour in the heated pool.
Free bags containing a water bottle, swim bag, colouring in pencils and educational NAIDOC resources will be available upon entry (while stocks last).
During the NAIDOC event at Beenleigh Aquatic Centre, community feedback will be sought on the proposed upgrade of the centre’s outdoor pool area.
Council is in the pre-design consultation stage of the project and wants to gather ideas from the community to help guide the design of the new pool and buildings.
The survey is also open for public input on Council’s online Have Your Say platform –
