Shell Servo Ram Raided

Front Entrance Took Full Force Of Vehicle …

At approximately 1am in the early hours of 20 July, Shell Tamborine’s owners Terry and Chris Watkins responded to an alarm. Once again, our local Shell Service Station in Tamborine had become the target of another ram raid. This time the act was apparently undertaken by persons in two stolen vehicles. Video surveillance caught images of the smaller vehicle, a blue Hyundai Getz, being maneuvered between the pumps and their metal barricade to ram the front entrance doors. The offenders then exited the vehicle and proceeded to the counters where they managed to only retrieve six or seven packets of cigarettes from the cabinets.

They then fled the scene with others in the second vehicle.

The amount of damage caused to the premises was extensive including the complete front entrance, shop fittings, stock, and a fridge door.

The staff arrived at 4am to commence their shift, but instead faced a big clean up after forensics conducted their investigations. The servo quickly recommenced service but the front entrance had to be boarded awaiting repair.
