Give These A TRY …
So we are a fortnight from the semi-finals in the Rugby League, and this month I’d thought I’d give everyone a good old fashioned laugh and print my selection for the ‘Holy Grail’.
Up until a week ago, I was very keen on the Sydney City Roosters, that was until the war of survival with the Melbourne Storm. It was a finals game come a fortnight early, injuries, massive body collisions, a game that went for over two and a half hours, I just feel it was a game both clubs didn’t need and potentially will feel long lasting effects. I’m ruling out both the Roosters and the Storm.
My gut feeling all year has been that Penrith while belting some of the Also Rams just haven’t been as slick in 2021. I know Mr Cleary’s returning, but sometimes you just have to trust instincts. No Penrith for me.
South Sydney are similar to the boys from the bottom from the of the mountain. Just always felt they are a try or two off the top of the tree. A good side but lack a bit of variety, I’m more than happy to risk them being able to win the comp.
I watched a game earlier this year – Parramatta and Cronulla – an edge of a seat cliff hanger where felt the Eels were the better side but the Sharks did what they have been able to do all year and despite being behind for most of the game, and sometimes found themselves in front when the full time siren went. I don’t need to wax lyrical what the two ex Storm boys have brought the shire – a belief discipline and this incredible ability to make players around them better players. An example, the great Andrew Fifita! Para I feel are the best team in the competition, a brilliant halves pairing of Moses and Brown, big semi on that win, they also have in my opinion the best edge runner in the comp, Shaun Lane, and a brilliantly led by a heart and soul skipper in Clint Gutherson, they also had the perfect turn up, blowing out their cobwebs by toweling up the Brisbane Broncos. For me I’ll go the unpopular way, but I genuinely think it’s Parramatta and the Sharks, and for as much as it kills me to say, Parramatta to be this year’s Premiers 20 points to 12.
Until next month, come in and tell me your finals predictions!
