Sculptural Gateway Style Artwork Discussion
One Friday night in February 2023, a public consultation meeting was held at the Tamborine Memorial Hall for a discussion on possible themes and styles for a sculptural gateway style artwork for Tamborine. The meeting was coordinated by Mark Paddock, Council Officer responsible for Public Arts.
A slide show depicting many styles, designs, and construction materials was presented followed by enthusiastic input from the attendees. The ideas gathered will be put to potential artists as a brief with further public consultation before a design is chosen.
The Public Arts money is part of the State Government Arts and Tourism program with a focus upon encouraging pride for towns across Queensland. Division 2 Cr Jeff McConnell later took questions from residents about anything ‘Council related’. A delicious supper (platter by Village Roastery) with a cuppa was hosted by the Tamborine & Districts Citizens Association (TDCA).
