World’s Greatest Shave For A Cure @ TMSS
On the last day before Easter break the Tamborine Mountain State School held a World’s Greatest Shave. Seven eager students had their heads shaved in front of an assembly of their peers and Principal Jason Smith, to raise an amazing $4500 dollars for the Leukaemia Foundation – with the total raised across Australia currently at a huge $10.5 million!
Longer hair that is cut off such as pony tails is sent to the Leukaemia Foundation to be used for wigs for people who have suffered hair loss due to cancer and treatment. Other hair that is shaved off is collected from World’s Greatest Shaves all around Australia is also sent to the Leukaemia Foundation to be woven into mats to soak up ocean oil spills.
On final count, our very own local resident Braxton Selkirk from Tamborine, raised an incredible $3092! Wow! Great job Braxton, love the new hair style!
