Stepping Into Springtime On The Mountain …
Last year Springtime On The Mountain’s Festival of Open Gardens was affected by rain forcing cancellation of the first day. This year rain threatened once again but luckily stopped the night before allowing the five specially selected gardens to throw open their gates to an adoring public.
Travelling from both near and far, visitors were treated to: 1. Mountain Cottage in Macdonnell Road – featuring a concentration of brilliant blooms and an amazing display of roses and perennial flowers; 2. Pond Hall in Beacon Road – a stand out eclectic artist’s garden, over 30 years in the making, featuring open park-like areas and woodland plantings with a very impressive collection of gorgeous sculptures, and marble benches fountains (especially the massive central piece); 3. Belicia also in Beacon Road – a cottage garden with wide lawns, fruit trees, and a large vegetable patch; 4. Carousel in Sequoia Drive – an exquisite cottage garden with massed plantings of spring annual flowers; and 5. Adelaide Views in Adelaide Court – another stand out impressive garden with spectacular views, wide lawns, stunning unique ‘rain forest’ pockets, succulents, and whimsical garden sculptures.
Some mountain nurseries such as the Birchgrove Nursery, the Tamborine Mountain Nursery, and Bamboo Down Under also welcomed visitors, as well as the Tamborine Mountain Landcare Centre, and an incredible plant sale at the Tamborine Mountain Regional Botanic Gardens held over the two days. Music was played at various venues – further enhancing the ‘fabulous floral and foliage festival’!
Thank you Tamborine Mountain Garden Club for presenting such a fantastic festival – we definitely needed the whole two days to see all of the wonderful gardens!
