Hiya Folks It’s Mabel Here

The Cutest, Fluffiest Donkey At The Hotel

Let me tell ya, this past month has been a whirlwind of fun, food, and fabulous hoomans at the Bearded Dragon Hotel. Being the youngest sibling, I’m a bit of a spoiled princess, but hey, I work hard for my carrots!
First off, we had yet another photoshoot to promote Tamborine and the Scenic Rim. Oh boy, the photographer was as bossy as a border collie, but I had a giggle with the staff about all the amazing chefs food they managed to sneak while pretending to behave. I mean, who could resist a nibble here and there, right?
Then there were the donkey picnics—my absolute favourite! I got to meet so many wonderful hoomans who needed a bit of love and kindness in this sometimes harsh world. I was more than happy to oblige, spreading smiles left and right. Some couples even got a bit more amorous than usual, and I had to look away, blushing under my fluffy fur!
The wedding photo shoot with Samantha and Scott was a hoot! Everything was going smoothly until some cheeky kids decided to steal a lawn game and a few balls. It was all fun and games until the event organizers started chasing them around my pen. I just stood there, munching on my hay, watching the chaos unfold — priceless!
We also had some teambuilding events with businesses from Beaudesert. These folks knew how to speak fluent equine and donkey, which made everything so much easier. I felt right at home with them, and I could tell they did too.
The highlight of my month was definitely the big group of volunteers from Roma St Parklands. Their tucker looked absolutely delicious! I was a bit jealous they didn’t share their handmade scones with chef’s yummy jam, but it’s probably for the best. Gotta watch my waistline, you know — sugar is my enemy!
And let’s not forget all the birthdays and parties! So many cakes, so little time. I was all ears, soaking in the stories from locals who’ve been visiting for over 20 years. It’s amazing to hear about the history and memories of this place.
All in all, it’s been an action-packed month full of laughter, love, and lots of treats. I can’t wait to see what the next month brings (don’t forget the big mammoth market day Sunday 28th to raise funds for the Rural Fire Brigade and support local small businesses) . Until then, keep those carrots coming, and remember — there’s always a bit of mischief to be found with Mabel around!
Cheers, Mabel
